Cranes

When removing particularly large or dangerous trees, or trees in an awkward location it is often more efficient and much safer to use a crane. This can be an expensive operation depending on the size of the crane but it is often compensated by the significant reduction in manpower and time required to remove the tree.

Obviously there needs to be access for the crane to get near the tree and subsequently there are a number of types typically ranging from 8 and 15 tonne all terrain mini cranes for tight access to large 50 and 80 ton cranes that generally stay on the road. Another advantage of using a crane is that the tree is lifted up and away from its location and then lowered elsewhere, often on the road, so there is no impact on the area surrounding the tree.
